ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in England and studied Fine Art and Design before moving to California in my mid-twenties. An offer to create children's picture books led me into publishing and I now have over 300 books published internationally. As well as children's books, these include coffee table books, guide books, travel books and illustrated biographies. Although I painted during my 'book years', my love of photography grew and my photographs have appeared in many publications.

Following extended periods in Mexico, two years in Provence and cabin life high in the Rocky Mountains, I now live in Los Angeles. My travels have influenced my use of vibrant colours and textures and my training and practice as a fine artist add painterly qualities to my photographs - which are as diverse as my experiences yet have a common thread.

I see whimsical, often wry images in most of the pieces I create and I title my works accordingly, but in the end, it’s each person’s own interpretation that matters and I encourage everyone to see whatever pleases them. I use simple, hand-held cameras and available light only. No tricky lenses, no Photoshop, no cut and paste. I work meticulously in the refining process to make each work unique, meaningful and a pleasure for people to own.

EDUCATION  Southampton College of Art, Southampton, England. 3-year Diploma in Art and Design: Painting, sculpture, photography, graphic design, printmaking, falling in love. Los Angeles School of Advertising. 1-year conceptualization and art direction.
